Azzam has been Westchesters coach since 1980. Now in his fifth year as the assistant Sophomore coach, Coach Garcia brings his experience on and off the court to share with his players. And hes been able to rely on Davidson as an on-court stabilizer, a steady post presence who scored 23 points to lead Mater Dei to a 66-53 win over Etiwanda and a Southern Section Division 1 championship Saturday at the Honda Center. Since 2010, Coach Almazan has trained and coached players alongside Coach McKnight and Clay McKnight (South Coast and Big Red travel teams). A 2022 graduate of Chapman University, Evans worked as the sports and managing editor of the campus newspaper before beginning freelance work with The Times.
